    Midnight Visitor

    The title case is a logical one. It leaves you thinking and then lets you go "Ohhhh...." when you figure out how Encyclopedia figured the case out. The rest of the cases can be hit or miss compared to that one. Allowing a character to tell another he looks like an Arab as happens in the mystery that follows "The Case of the Midnight Visitor" would not be allowed into writing or, at the very least, not be viewed as permissible by several of Encyclopedia Brown's fans, past and present. Plus, in the case of the mosquitos, Sally's reaction over a girl winning the Odd-Ball Olympics would be heralded as quite resonant and Lindylou would've been given a perfect 10 while her height over the boys she beat in arm-wrestling while standing atop a banana peel would've been viewed as a non-issue. ...
