  • The Best Bass Strings ?

I'm tempted to change all of my basses to these strings. Best of both worlds. The feel of flats, good flats, without losing all of the top end of round wounds. I like them better than my Thomas Infeld bass strings. You read that right. Only thing I can't comment on is longevity. Only had them on a bass for a few months. So maybe thomas infeld wins in the end. Time will tell. I've tried many bass strings, from all the top makers. Cheap and expensive, flats, round, tape wound you name it. These are my favorites right now.

  • Best flats I've ever used, bar none

Best flats I have ever used, bar none, and yes, TI maniacs, better than Jazz Flats, which as far as I'm concerned might as well be rounds. I first tried Dunlops in 2016 when they first came out and instantly loved them. They're not all sticky and grabby, they're low tension but not like wet noodles, and while they're quite bright and ringy out of the box, when they go dead, they have a thump that equals or betters the thumpiest flats out there with a slightly attenuated top end compared to Chromes or LaBellas. Perfect! Only problem I had with them is that they were only available in 45-105 or 50-110 gauges, and I prefer 40-100 because I don't want to work that hard. Finally they started making them this year in 40-100, so I bought a set, and I'm happy to report that they're every bit as great sounding as the heavier gauges and are even easier to play! So now I'm all about Dunlops...been using Super Bright Nickels on my basses with roundwounds for a few years now, and I'm happy to be sporting their flats on my flats basses, too.

  • Affordable flats for those that love rounds.

I’ve been a stainless rounds player for the whole 32 years I’ve been at it. I only started experimenting with flats due to boredom, thanks to the Covid quarantine. I’ve found several sets that feel like silk, are effortless to play, not tight and stiff, and sound nice and full like roundwounds. The Dunlop 40-100 set is one. The other good sets cost considerably more: 25-60%. I’ve rated them at 4 stars because I have yet to play them in the full band setting. But, I would not be surprised if they warrant a true 5 star rating, they sound that good at home!

  • Thumpers with good tension.

Wanted a little more tension than the TI flats with almost the same thump. These Dunlop's were the answer! Really enjoying them.
