    New All-time favorite

Note that I purchased the XBox One Limited Edition just to get the art book and soundtrack, since currently the XBox One Limited is the cheapest of the limited editions. (I do have an XBox One, but at the moment don't even have it hooked up.) For the game, I played through Steam on a Windows 10 PC, and Life Is Strange has replaced The Longest Journey as my all-time favorite game. So emotional, so affecting, so real, and a very good answer to Roger Ebert's contention that video games aren't art. (To be fair to The Longest Journey, it too was a good answer to that contention.) For first time in my 50+ year life, I'm reading fanfic and watching people play a game on YouTube (after I'd finished it; I like to see how they react to certain scenes). Here's a very brief excerpt from a review in the Swarthmore college newspaper, The Daily Gazette, because it perfectly encapsulates how I feel after playing this game: "It’s been days and Max and Chloe are all I can think about. I miss them. I miss their wonderful dialogue, their cute interactions, the way Max always wants to protect Chloe and the way Chloe brings out the adventurous side of Max. Their story was a harrowing and emotional experience, but also a beautiful one." As for the limited edition items, the soundtrack is routinely excellent. It includes two favorites of mine, Alt J and Amanda Palmer, and introduced me to some other excellent artists, some I'd heard before but never really noticed, e.g., Sparklehorse, and some I'd never even heard of, e.g., Mud Flow. The art book is well made, but it's utility is a little less than compelling for me.

    Ride 2.....will you?? Yes

Ride 2 Day One Edition PS4 US Version First of all I am a bike rider and I love racing games. I am also a fan of the first game too. For Ride 2, it is a good game. The graphics are good and detailed and it sounds good. It is a lot better than the first game. The loading times have improved significantly over the first one and the graphics are a lot better too. Like the people look more normal like a real person does. If you saw the first game, the people looked a little funny, unproportioned a bit. Game modes: They did a good job mixing it up here with some modes, I don’t remember all that went on from the first game from the top of my head but this game does have a lot of the same and that’s ok. Races, races, races…there are a lot of these and a lot of bikes too. It has the standard quick race, race online, series matches that when have to meet certain requirements to race (sport bike, under 250 points). The point system is based on the type of bike and power it has and stuff like that. Every so many races lead to other series races where you can win cash and bikes as a reward. It has the head to head mode where you try to chase someone down that passed you on the track while others are on the track too, pair race where you and your teammate points are added together at the end of the race, your regular timed track and track day mode where you just trying to pass as many people on a track as possible before time ends. There’s the drag race where top speed against opponent wins. And perfect trajectory mode where there are cones lined up on the track and you have to ride the track (partial track) trying not to hit the cones while being timed and if you knock em down then it will add extra time on the clock. There is the online races too but I haven’t messed with that too much. They even have races that take place in the rain. Bikes There are even new bikes to download and to purchase too. It has the different races for specific bikes like moto (new bikes), naked, sports, racers, endurance (new) and super sports. The way you can upgrade them is still good with a couple more features than before (maybe 1 or 2 options). The list of manufacturers are about 19 or 20 but I kid you not, it’s way more than a hundred bikes available not to mention the ones available for free download and the ones as paid DLC. There are classic bikes, electric ones too so it is a good mixture of them available. Reward system It has a reward system that you can earn stars to unlock rewards to get you either more money after a race for multiple type of races, buying bikes at a discount from the dealer, a certain start position in a race or even extra money for racing a certain manufacturer in a race and a couple other things as rewards that someone may find interesting. The stars can be purchased for ridiculous prices or can be earned from daily challenge races that changes every day or a weekly challenge that can earn more stars. Personally I think these are hard but I can get a couple of stars in a week. Graphics: As mentioned before they are better now than before, and the scenery is too cool. Racing in the desert, an airport strip (always wanted to do that) around in the mountain cliffs and of course on real race tracks and in city made tracks. They stepped up their game in this area a little bit. As far as the AI, I don’t know what is going on here but I kid you not, I think that this game is a little hard here, when the game is on easy (has medium and hard too), it is a challenge for me at times but I just keep motoring along. The first game crashed a lot, and when I say crashed I don’t mean bike wreck, I mean the game would shut down and error out. This game is a lot better but I will say it did shut down on me 1 time and froze up another. I just keep watch and hope it doesn’t act like the first game did completely. Overall, this is a good game and fun to play. You could add some things in the game to make it more interesting too but I won’t complain, for what it has, it is good. Anyone who likes to race will enjoy this game or any bike lover. Yes I recommend it. [7/10]

  • Strange Ending

I think it has been talked about a lot on forums and review sites, but the ending in this game offered choices that were difficult to make and full of grief either way. Unless of course you don't identify with the characters as deeply as I did. There are twists in this tale that you should not play at night. I honestly did not know what I was getting in for. Even if I had read reviews I wouldn't have understood the reality of the warnings. I thought I was going to play a trite, teen issues game with a fair story involved and it seemed to be going that way for quite a while, until the last episodes and things become a series of nerve racking puzzles that require quick thinking and thorough observational skills. I couldn't play to the end. I finished it up watching a youtube video and realized I couldn't play to the end. I couldn't make that sort of decision. Would I have bought this game, or played it, if I knew what I was getting in for? I think yes. Since this was my first choice based game I learned a lot from it and by the end I was a bit more adept at moving my characters around. I would not give this to any of my grandchildren or recommend it to my children. That sort of nihilistic, harsh, reality is not a way of thinking or perceiving reality that I think is productive or healthy. But, I liked it and would recommend it if you already have your mind made up on what sort of philosopy, world view you choose. I grieved, and I'm an adult, a very old adult. Perhaps thats a testimony to the games capacity to make you care about their characters.

  • Very upset.

I had no idea that when you buy the game and you put it in you still have to buy the other episodes like you want on the normal Xbox if I would’ve known that I wouldn’t of bought the game because I already play the first episode on the actual Xbox and now I have to go and spend 4.99 to buy the other episodes it’s bullshit
