    Dead-simple “Vintage” Digital Camera

    I’m a street photographer in Chicago who started with a bulky Canon 7D DSLR, then switched to shooting film the last two years using a 35mm point and shoot from the 80s. I have an affinity for old things and simplicity. This first-generation Coolpix “Life” series of compact digital cameras really scratched my itch. I started with the L11, of which I’ve had 3. Overall, I’d call the body design sturdy, but the latch mechanism for the battery cover is anything but. It broke for 2 out of my 3. Of the original L10 - 12 line, the latter is definitely the way to go now buying it used; it bumps up the ISO from 800 to 1600, among some other feature upgrades. The options available on the body and via the menu system are obvious enough to not need a menu, which adds to my pleasure in using. Although, ...

    Good photos in low light

    I have used this model camera for 10 years. This is the 4th I have had as I have broken the lens in the other three. My fault. I use the camera in the inspection business and am in areas of low light often. This Nikon L12 takes very good photos in low light without a flash.
