  • Optically-great, lightweight, high-value Zoom lens

This is the best light autofocus zoom lens that I've ever used. The optics are terrific, absolutely sharp and typical of Fuji products. The manual zoom is firm yet smooth, and with no sloppiness at all. It's rather reminiscent of a less stiff version of my big Nikon 80-400 AF-D VR zoom. The autofocus has a slight tendency to have a few problems locking on at the maximum 230 mm setting, but by backing off to about halfway between the 135 and 230 mm it will lock in; this occurs more in lower lighting sessions and surprisingly, (at least to me), at distant objects as it seems to be less prevalent in subjects several feet away. The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) seems to function well, although again at lower lighting levels one needs to be cognizant of both Shutter Speed and ISO as at maximum zoom, one is dealing with a maximum aperture opening of only f6.7. If I know in advance that this is the situation with which I'll be dealing, I opt for either bringing along a monopod or using my Nikon D600 with that VR Zoom. There is also the aspect that the physical size of the Nikon camera permits me to hold it better than my Fuji X-E2 camera. That stated, I bought that camera and two XC lenses (XC 15-45 mm and this XC 50-230 mm) to take with me when travelling (light) for business, to keep in the car, and for just walking around without feeling the weight of the Nikon and one of two heavy zooms. I've had some great photos with it and will undoubtable have even more as I get more used to it. Incredible value lens. The attached photo, compressed extensively, really doesn't do justice, but at full size, it's a sharp crisp photo (where it needs to be); ISO 400, f 5.6, 1/80th second exposure

  • For bright conditions

Lightweight, sharp, on-the-go lens. I use it as an always in my (regular non camera-)bag lens on my xt-10. It needs light, so it's my daytime/summer every day lens. In winter or low light conditions it sits on the shelf. But that's ok because of the pricing. It has no aperture ring, but the aperture is easily set with the thumb dial. Of course it's not a pro lens, but does a reasonably good job anyway. The main reason to get this lens would be the very light weight/travel convenience.

  • budget price, good value

All plastic construction with good glass. Because of modest f/stop, it is impossible to blur out background and shoot in very low light. Definitely not built up to pro standards, but that's not why you buy it. Buy it because it is lightweight, sharp and cheap.

  • Bargain telephoto lens

A fine choice for casual use; light weight with a usable zoom range. A bit inconvenient not having an on-lens switch for the OIS.

  • Lightweight and affordable

This is a great entry lens for the X system, and at eBay prices, the most affordable. The 50-230 APS-C range is great, but the lens is on the slow side (f/4.5-6.7), and to get a sharp image you need to stop down, and if you want sharpness in the corner, stop down quite a bit (at 230mm, even f/13 isn't tack sharp corner to corner). So, it's optically not as nice as the XF55-200, but much lighter, and oh so much cheaper, you get a great value for what you pay.

  • Good lens

Good optical quality, but not so good building quality. Lite and easy to carry.

  • very good purchase

This fujifilm lens is in very good quality, and I can take perfect pictures with it, the silver color looks so cool. I am a beginner and learning how to take pictures well, this lens is suitable for me. I will recommend it to my friends.

  • it’s a nice lens

nice zoom, background sep, a bit soft, not for low light, but def value for money

  • Hard to beat

Amazing clarity, light weight, great ergonomics- has a little af trouble at 230 if the scene is busy- use af lock. Great tool, really affordable addition to the lens collection.

  • A great inexpensive lens

This is an inexpensive plastic body lens, which actually creates very nice photos. It is lightweight, which is a plus when coupled with a mirrorless body such as the Fuji XT-2. It's not the fastest lens, not great in low light, but it's nice for wildlife photography or daylight sports photography. A good value.
