Notes2018 release from the rock icon. Paul McCartney invites you on a musical journey to Egypt Station. Sharing a title with one of Paul's own paintings, Egypt Station is the first full album of all-new McCartney music since 2013's international chart-topping album New. Egypt Station was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of one Ryan Tedder track) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters). Of the album's enigmatic title, Paul says, "I liked the words 'Egypt Station.' It reminded me of the 'album' albums we used to make.., Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So, it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from." True to the inspiration behind it's title, Egypt Station's 14 songs combine to convey a unique travelogue vibe. Between the opening and closing instrumentals "Station I" and "Station II," each song finds Paul capturing a place or moment before transporting the listener seamlessly to the next destination. Stops along the way include an acoustic meditation on present day contentedness ("Happy With You"), a timeless anthem that would fit on virtually any album of any McCartney era ("People Want Peace"), and an epic multi-movement closer clocking in at seven minutes with a song suite structure harkening back to the days of Paul's previous combos ("Despite Repeated Warnings"). The result is a kaleidoscopic journey through myriad musical locales and eras, yet firmly rooted in the here and now-with Paul's singular unmistakable melodic and lyrical sensibility serving as a guide.

  • A Masterpiece!

This solo album by Sir Paul McCartney is a culmination of his years of musical experience and it exemplifies his true creativity and musical expression. Even as he progresses through his Seventies he shows no sign of his age. While it’s difficult to comprehend that he’s now an elderly man he’s can still hammer out amazing and engaging music. If I was I to make a prediction this amazing album has already won a Grammy Award for “Album of the Year”. This is one of Paul’s best solo efforts and reminds me of the creative genius of his first solo album from 1970 “McCartney”. I love this CD so much that I ordered it on Vinyl. This is a album for all ages but it especially touches those of us of his generation as we embrace and celebrate this wonderful achievement from a great man of our musical heritage.

  • A Stunning Reaffirmation of a Songwriter's Life Well-Lived

What a totally wonderful CD! I must have listened to it twenty times in the first two weeks. Contains a couple of good rockers and some gorgeous ballads which grabbed me so much that I'm dreaming them at night. They have a totally new feel yet at least two simultaneously seem reminiscent of the Badfinger/Ram era. Sir Paul is the supreme example of a life well-lived, caring about societal issues and still creating worthy music in his seventies. The first record I ever bought was "She Loves You"/"I'll Get You," and it's heartening to be affected just as strongly over fifty years later. There is great beauty in this album. Thank you Paul.

  • So Deserves it's #1 Status!!

McCartney's best in 37 years! This most recent release by Sir Paul combines the melodies, beats, harmonies, and creativity of his work with the Fab Four and also of his time in Wings. CD is on a continuous loop in my player!!

  • awsome from one of the greatest!

Was glad to get this CD. Sounds good - and namely Paul always been one of my favorites. He has good stage presence. He certainly doesn't need the money, so glad he is still relevant. Not crazy about some of the music put out today, so glad he is touring and still making music - MEANS MY GENERATION STILL COUNTS!

  • Paul's best album since Band on the Run!

This is definitely one of Paul's greatest musical efforts since the Beatles disbanded. It's as good as any of the Wings lp or solo lp's. The themes of the music are for a bit more mature audience than before I would say, which is to be expected as we fans have aged with him. Strongly recommend for both the excellent song writing and great musical accompaniment.

  • Eqypt Station

Really love Egypt Station. A eclectic mix of music for McCartney, but lots of excellent songs on there. Some don't sound at all like the Beatles or even McCartney, and others have that classic sound to them. Only 3 or 4 songs out of the 16 that I don't care that much for.

  • I will Recommend This One to fans

Although Paul's voice is changing, he still has the ability to make it sound great. There are hook ladened songs in this album that are irresistible, thou some (as Lennon once stated) are rubbish. From a reasonable perspective, half the disc are 'good to great' and the rest are 'eh to yuck'. Fuh You is awesome, it stuck in my head for hours.

  • Excellent value, great for presents!

Just as described, I opened one which looked and sounded fine. There are no cutouts or markings on the packaging to indicate that it has been discounted. I plan to give some away as presents since this is probably one of McCartney's better albums.
