Slayers is one of those shows that brings out a real sense of adventure and mirth inside. It was made during a high point in Anime where it didn't really matter how deep or serious or dark it was, or how much blood you showed, or how much fanservice you got. Slayers is simply fun. The show follows the exploits and adventures of Lina Inverse, genius girl sorcerer with a nasty reputation for being a shameless bandit killer. In these five movies Lina travels the world not to save it or find something legendary, but to better herself and learn new things. Of course it doesn't go quite as smoothly as it sounds. Lina's buxom "sidekick" Naga tags along and provides a polar opposite to the short, fiery, destructive Lina with a fantastic comedic relief. Through their travels the two get wrapped up in mayhem at every turn, usually unwillingly, or in some cases through trickery and misdirected self-interest. They battle monsters, bandits, golems, dragons, and sometimes even themselves. For me the highpoint is the music orchestration. The main theme that follows throughout the series is absolutely fantastic, and there are many many times in the films that I got chills from the score playing at just the right time in the action. The actual DVD box set is very beautiful. The outer case is made of sturdy cardboard, and every side has images printed on it. Each DVD comes in it's own slim plastic case. They all have options for English subtitles and Japanese audio, and there are some small special features but nothing to write home about. All in all I highly recommend this set of movies.Read full review
It's a great anime that is just as funny as the main series, the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the voice cast isn't the same as the main series. I found out that the movies were dobbed by ADV Films & the main series was dobbed by Central Park Media. Central Park Media had the rights to the main series & not the movies or ova, henceforth ADV Films got the rights to the movies & ova. I also prefer the Central Park Media cast over ADV Films, though their cast is also quite entertaining just not as iconic in my opinion.

Excellent quality box set for being 15 years old. Happy to finally own these wonderful films as this was the last time I believe they were released! I haven't seen all of them in years. I really wish I didn't have to pay over 100 dollars for them, but worth it to me clearly.

These three movies follow Lina Inverse and Naga the Serphant. Lina and Naga have a bit of a rivalry going from the start. In most of them the two of them are fighting each other in various ways. Lina Inverse is one of those characters that has a way of reaching out to you. She's a strong sorceress with a lot of heart, but she can be a bit greedy. Naga is a bit of a brainless twit who follows her around claiming to be her arch rival. In one of the movies the two of them fight it out in golems. In another it's a fashion fight. Which while amusing was sort of predictable. My favorite of them was when Lina and Naga go back in time to prevent an ancient mistake from happening. The stories are well animated and are a lot of fun. I'd recommend them for all ages.
