The "Complete" (well nearly complete) Animals
A great double CD with all the collaborations between the original Animals line-up and Micky Most but not their subsequent material. The Animals were not great composers at that time and relied upon making superb covers as well as arranging traditional songs. However they did compose some great bluesy B sides for their singles and these are all featured as well as all the numbers from their first two LPs including the superb "Animal Tracks". This CD has much more recently been released on a triple vinyl album and fans may well want this as well. The excellent liner notes from this CD, which also tells the story of the Animals in their various subsequent reincarnations, are reproduced on the gatefold cover of the vinyl.A great double CD with all the collaborations between the original Animals line-up and Micky Most but not their subsequent material. The Animals - The Complete Animals
Over the years I've bought several albums featuring the songs that appear on this double cd. Sadly I've managed to wear out the vinyl on at least three. Although I had copied some of them to cassette before they became unplayable they weren't good by todays standards. Imagine my delight then to find this collection including some gems that I didn't have. It's like finding a long lost friend. I saw the band play back in the early 60's and I saw them play last year and they were brilliant on both occasions. The "new" line-up has been together about 10 times longer than the original one and John Steele is still playing with them and Zoot Money replaced Alan Price who was only with the band for a short spell is still hanging on in there. A good CD and song selection. A bad CD title selection.
I bought this CD as i like to have a good selection of music to hand. Although i do think that it is a definite misnomer naming this production "The Complete Animals" as a lot of later and rarer tracks are not included. One i remember buying in about 1969 was the Johnny Cash hit "Ring of Fire", i enjoy The Animals version as much as the original. I personally think that think the sub title "The Complete Mickie Most Productions) should have been printed more boldly. Also i was very disappointed that on "DISC 2", track 21 "New Year Radio Spot" did not play on my CD player. I played both CDs twice and enjoyed the contents but thought it was wrong to list a track that doesnt play on CDs. However i do not know if that track is a bonus track for computer playback. However in summary, i am ... I bought this CD as i like to have a good selection of music to hand. Animal Tracks
If you liked the Animals you should love this cd It has all the Micky Most productions. Back in the sixties I had all these tracks on vinyl and in the seventies I had them on tape So now I want them on cd and to transfer to my MP3
