I've had a Kindle and a succession of Sony products. (I still kinda love the Sony PRS-350). But the Glo HD is light years ahead of them. The O/S reacts quickly to input, the screen is always easy to see, the light isn't harsh (I never have it above 15%, mainly using it as a fill-in for natural light. Natural light is still the very best way to read.) It doesn't lock you in to an ecosystem, leaving you free to get your books wherever you want. I like public libraries. Not great with pdf files. The pdf system was designed for computers and printers, not ebooks. If pdf is your main thing you should get a tablet computer. I'm a *book* purist, and don't go for other gimmicks and social networking stuff. BUT I really like the Pocket app which allows you to save something from a website and read it on your Glo. Great for those really long articles you might find on the New York Times or an online magazine. Just turn on the wifi and sync the Glo with Pocket -- it's quick -- and you have it on the reader. I connect it to my computer once a week for about an hour to load some new articles, and that seems to keep it charged enough. I never even think about the battery.Read full review

This product is defective. The battery is discharged in sleep mode completely in one day. Use can not. I do not know what to do. The warranty repairs can not carry no cash-memo and warranty.

Even though it's a discontinued gadget by Rakuten, I think it is one of the best reader I have ever had. I passed through Sony and Kindle, and the quality of this Canadian item does have very much to offer. I love that it has very configurable fonts sizes and weights. The Comfort Light works like a charm. The rubberized backside is very smooth and gives a very pleasant feeling. Before I bought it, I did a lot of research because there are so many readers out there. At last, this one was the best deal for the price. HD E-ink Carts display with Included light and 4gb of memory. Believe me, it is a real difference between the Kindle 5 Pearl display. I also moved to a different brand than Kindle because that device is all about ads and commercials. And I hate it. My last Kindle had some very severe ink fading so I managed to sell it and buy me this little wonder. It seems durable and with the iGadgitz case I bought, I hope it lasts me at least for 10 years :oRead full review

The reason for buying is to make use of ebooks from the local library. This Ebook was an upgrade to an older Kobo which did not have touch screen or integrated light. The clarity of the screen is excellent. The quick change of font size is convenient. You can also easily change the type of font. The ability to increase or decreases brightness is a useful addition to the original models. I would recommend this product for the clarity of text and ease of use.

The resolution is very good, you almost look at a real book, and it is very easy to set the backlight with just slide of finger. It just serve the need of an ebook reader. Just a wish that this has external memory card.
