Synopsis
America's favorite pediatric experts turn their attention to solving babies' sleep problems in a definitive book that offers immediate results. A comprehensive, reassuring, solution-filled sleep resource, this guide shows parents how to match the nighttime temperament of their baby to their own lifestyle, and provides practical tools parents need to help the entire family sleep better., Everything you need to know about getting your baby or toddler to sleep -- from America's foremost baby and childcare experts. Babies don't automatically know how to sleep through the night; they need to be taught. The Sears family has learned from decades of pediatric practice, bolstered by their own parenting experiences, that different babies have different nighttime temperaments -- and, of course, different families have different lifestyles. Instead of espousing the kind of "one method fits all" approach advocated in other baby sleep guides, the Sears family explains how you can create a sleep plan that suits the needs of your entire family. With a sharp focus on the practical tools and techniques, The Baby Sleep Book covers such topics as: the facts of infant sleep vs. adult sleep figuring out where, when, and how your child sleeps best fail-safe methods for soothing a crying infant how to make night nursing easier, and how to stop nighttime fathering tips whether co-sleeping makes sense for you nap-time strategies that work medical and physical causes of night waking sleep habits in special situations such as traveling, teething, and illness, Everything you need to know about getting your baby or toddler to sleep -- from America's foremost baby and childcare experts. • Feel Better About Your Decisions

Just when I'd almost given up hope that my baby would sleep any other way but at my breast, in our bed, I picked up this book. Within the first few minutes, I almost started to cry. It was as if Dr. Sears had written this book for me, and my situation. There's other books available about sleeping, but I urge you to try this one first. He gives sincere medical and parenting advice about what's worked for his practice (over 30 years) and what's worked with his parenting (they have 9 children!). You'll finally put to rest the all important question: "Do I let my baby cry it out?" The answer is NO! I'll share 2 facts I learned from this book: 1. The only babies know how to communicate is by crying. The parents of children who sleep through the night by crying it out? Those babies have ...

  • To the Point!

It went straight to the point on methods to help with sleeping patterns of your baby. It has a lot of valuable information as well. I like the fact that it gives you a choice on what to use instead of forcing one method and saying it will work.

  • Good book!

Like the suggestions on helping my baby go to sleep. I have already tried some and had some success. Worth the money.
