These phones are warm sounding honest and very revealing ... as a result they will not only give you a most excellent auditory experience , but they will also do it without the "ear fatigue " other phones might induce .... these are sweet sounding head phones !!! Nothing is hyped , the top end is not hyped and thinned out and the bass , while not huge is super realistic ... a tom sounds like a tom , a kick drum like a kick drum ; as a musician I hear an extremely honest presentation . Grado has hit the mark ! I am now going through all my old favorite music to hear it anew !!! They are also physically very comfy !!

After doing a lot of research(3 weeks worth or so) on the perfect set of sub $100 headphones, the nearly unanimous consensus was the Grado 60 or 60i's. I must say that I am VERY pleased with my purchase. The Grado 60i's are an open ear type headphone with amazing clarity and depth. The mids seem to be especially sharp, but the bottom and highs get some great ear embracing love as well. Pne of the first things you will notice after opening the box is the heavy duty cord that is attached to these cans. Not the standard 1/8th inch dental floss on these babies. The ear foam is surprisingly soft and comfortable. Several of the reviews I read said that these are not good headphones for ectended use, but I would disagree with that. If you are looking for a GREAT set of headphones for under $100, don't look any further. Whether you are mixing tracks, or just wanna hear your mp3's in all of their lossless glory, the Grado 60i's are definitely a product you should look at. Then look no further.Read full review
You can't go wrong with these in terms of sound quality and price. Sound is clear and engaging. Although their open design is not great for portable use, they are easily driven by a portable player. Great introduction to audiophile headphones.

The Grado SR-60 headphones are considered audiophile equipment. Normally that raises a "red flag" because audiophile equipment typically offers poor value for the money, i.e. good sound quality at absurdly high price. The Grado SR-60 headphones break that usual rule-of-thumb in providing very good sound quality at a reasonable price. There are other Grado headphone models out there with better sound quality but you'll pay too much money for them. Likewise, there are much cheaper headphones than the Grado SR-60 but their sound quality is inferior. A downside with the Grado SR-60 is they are delicate, e.g. the wires can get twisted and hair accumulate on the speaker diaphragm. It's almost impossible to repair a Grado SR-60 after it becomes worn out. Through a process that I do not understand, the Grado SR-60 seems to have a "burn-in process", i.e. the headphones become better as they age. Consequently, the Grado SR-60 headphone has an optimum age where it is producing its best quality sound but has not yet worn out. My experience has been that daily use for about 5 months will get you to that optimum age. After the headphone has passed its peak, you should buy another set and retire the old one. The Grado SR-60 comes in different versions, i.e the original SR-60, SR-60e and SR-60i. It's difficult to say which version is best due to the "burn-in process". Buying a used SR-60 from eBay is probably a "good idea" because the headphone will be partially burned-in. I'm not a dealer in Grado equipment and have no vested interest. This is an honest review from an actual user. Over the years, I've purchased about five Grado SR-60s (I wore them out after extensive use).Read full review
