    A wonderful book, combining factual content with a readable style.

    This is a great book and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes walking. The examples are based on walking in the British Isles, using Ordnance Survey maps in conjunction with photographs of the landscape under discussion, but it has much that is relevant for any part of the world. There are numerous techniques explained that can be used to obtain a location, even in inclement conditions. It provides a great incentive to get out and explore some new paths and put the knowledge learned into practice. Despite having a reasonable understanding previously of using maps and navigation I still found many things that I did not know before.
