    Great server for non-intensive use

    Title says it all really. This thing is great value, and has more than enough horsepower to power the overwhelming majority of personal and small-business uses. That said, if you're looking for something with a serious amount of power, then look elsewhere as this is an older unit. Comes with iDRAC which makes server management much easier, as well as plenty of networking options. Great value unit if you're looking for a homelab setup.

    Dell PowerEdge R720

    I bought the R720 to house my passively cooled Tesla graphics card as my R710 hasn’t got power sockets for GPUs on the raiser card. The R720 chassis works well for the purpose and does it very quietly whilst the GPU just idles, under utilisation the fans have to be rammed up to produce sufficient airflow for the Tesla. All in all, very happy with my new server!

    Well designed but now showing it’s age. Excellent if you have a particular use case for it, but it can’t keep up with a modern server. Great value for a home lab.
