Good cheap straight razor but I would go with one that has a wooden handle
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I bought this razor so i could clean up my haircut when I get a line up. It's nice to have a straight razor with replaceable blades so you don't have to sharpen it frequently. I don't know if I would use this razor for shaving my face though. the razor isn't bad quality for the price but the handle does look really cheap. This is why i say buy one of the wooden ones. FYI you can use normal double edged razors on this but you have to break them in half. Just a quick tip as I did not know how to load the razors into this straight razor. You do not need to buy the derby single edge razors designed for straight razors.Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I bought this razor so i could clean up my haircut when I get a line up. Overall, An "OK" Blade
derby's get a bad rap from some people. it does seem they may not be quite as sharp as other blades. but they work well in some of my DE shavers...including the old "potato peeler"...the Merkur Futur! they are one of the few blades that do OK in this aggressive shaver. also, seems there may be a quality control issue. I've used derby's that were as good as any...others rather poor. excellent smooth blades for sensitive skin
to get the best shave, I always thought sharper was better. I tried a lot of blades, finally getting to feather blades for ultimate sharpness. the sharper the blades got, the more problems I had with burn and nicks. Yes, some of this is curbed by excellent technique, but even then, I just wasnt getting the results I wanted. I tried the derby blades on a whim because they came in a package of other things. result, super comfortable shave, that was just as close as I was getting with the super sharp blades. Now, I say this like the derby is not sharp. it is. very much so. But it also is a lot smoother. much more gentle on the skin. I have learned over this process that I have sensitive skin. I have found the derby blades to be a perfect combination of sharpness and smoothness ... to get the best shave, I always thought sharper was better. I tried a lot of blades, finally getting to feather blades for ultimate sharpness. the sharper the blades got, the more problems I had with burn and nicks. Large quantity at a great price !
First off, these are a tremendous value. With this quantity, you could almost shave with a new blade every day or so. In reality, you can get several days worth on just one blade. they seem to last and hold up well compared to others I've tried. Another nice feature is the 5 blade packs have a slot on the back to dispose old blades. No mess with used up blades. Overall a great shave, easy on the skin.First off, these are a tremendous value. best blades for me. at a really good price
as for me . can't speak for others Derby are the best razor blades so far. and I tried many. the price is right. and I can get three or better shaves out of one razor. its not super sharp. but not dull either. like I said it works for me. the premium seems a little better then the regular. not to say the regular blades are bad. I still use them. but now that I'm trying the premium I think their a little better. both are reasonably priced. and I have no qualms about using either one. this Is my perspective only. different faces. different razor blades. but I would recommend. if you cut yourself easily try these blades. what can you lose. but a lot of facial hair without the kicks.as for me . can't speak for others Derby are the best razor blades so far. and I tried many. the price is right. and I can get three or better shaves out of one razor. its not super sharp. but not dull either. like I said it works for me. the premium seems a little better then the regular. not to say the regular blades are bad.
