Massively overpriced for a used dented unit. Shipping hugely overpriced too. Misrepresentation in the description implying the unit is electronic when it is not. Tried to resolve with seller who was difficult and argumentative. Very poor customer service. Buyers beware.

  • Excellent WIDE compatibility upgrade for servers.

I had a HP xw9300 workstation, that came with one opteron 254 (2.8Ghz). The 2nd socket, and the 4 memory slots that went with that 2nd processor socket, were empty, many were delivered/ordered that way. I loooed up in HP's ssite, and they said, That to upgrade to the 285 Opteron dual core, I MUST use a HP blranded ER220A Opteron. I looked around, they were HIGH, around 400$. I found the above Opteron part #, and found them for 38$ each, so, I figured for that much, I COULD NOT LOSE. I bought two, they worked GREAT. And, that part #, is the standard part # that is on the standard, 285 Opteron you get, when You specify nothing but, "OPteron 285". Or, IOW, the normal, every day ole Opteron. The specs all matched, 1000 Mhz Hypertransport, Direct connect, 2 Meg cache shared, 1 meg per ...

  • Old School Opteron, but a good upgrade for certain servers

In most Opteron 200 series servers and motherboards, these are a drop in replacement. These are older CPUs for older servers, but when you simply can't replace a server for whatever reason, a drop-in CPU upgrade is extremely cost-effective. Be aware that some boards may require you to upgrade the BIOS -before- the CPU. From a 242 (what I replaced with these) to a 285 is the difference between 1.6GHz and 5.2GHz. Since I was replacing 2 CPUs on a dual board, I went from 3.2GHz total to 10.4GHz total. It is really about a 2.5X speedup over original, and uses roughly the same wattage, what's not to like?

  • Excellent Deal

I am running two of these CPUs, they were cheap, run great, and score a 6.9 on Windows 7 rating. Just a side note, don't skimp on the heatsinks. These don't run cool by any means.

  • like it

Good solid processor and stable. does not max out like some others.i have not come accrost any issues so far. I would recommend this to anyone.
