I think it's worth it to have control over the rate of flow of the oil. The oil otherwise comes out extremely quickly and can overwhelm even a large oil pan. It's expensive for what it is but it's clearly very well made. It also makes oil changes a bit less messy which is a plus.

UPR was GREAT. No issues with UPR. The issue was with Ebay and eBay site that stated a reduced price with Free Shipping, yet when placed in my cart the shipping costs was added in.
