    The recorder I bought works fine in all modes

    The Toshiba recorder did not work at first but I used a Maxwell DVD lens cleaner and was able to check all functions as OK. Record DVD-RW disks. Play recorded DVDs and format DVD-RWs Also edit of disk content for commercials works well. I have used this recorder type since 2005 and now can replace the one that has stopped working after many years.

    Toshiba vcr/dvd

    Good quality and easy to use makes this vcr/dvd combo a pretty good buy. Simple 1 button dubbing to record vhs to dvd is very nice. Somewhat large but still has style..Only drawback thus far is the extremely bright blue light on the front that indicates when power is on.

    While I answered yes to the above listed questions, I found that the the DVD Record/Player eventually looses it sound during playback.

    I didn't realize this discrepancy until a few days after I played a couple of my DVD's. The SVHS player element of the unit plays cassettes very well, which was my main reason for purchasing the item/

    low priced dvd recorder and vcr combo

    I like that this dvd recorder is a match to the tv I have had for a few years in both looks and compatability. The basic operation is simple. Getting into some of the harder operations will take time as this is my first dvd recorder. It has great picture when recording in both dvd and vhs.
