About this product

Product Information

The sharp, funny, and heartfelt follow-up to her bestselling Plan B, Anne Lamott's newest collection is a personal exploration of the faith and grace all around us. In Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith, Lamott examines the ways we're caught in life's most daunting predicaments: love, mothering, work, politics, and maybe toughest of all, evolving from who we are to who we were meant to be. This is a complicated process for most of us, and Lamott turns her wit and honesty inward to describe her own intimate, bumpy, and unconventional road to grace and faith. I wish grace and healing were more abracadabra kinds of things, she writes in one of her essays, that delicate silver bells would ring to announce grace's arrival. But no, it's clog and slog and scootch, on the floor, in silence, in the dark. Whether she's writing about her unsuccessful efforts to get her money back from an obstinate carpet salesman, grappling with the tectonic shifts in her relationship with her son as he matures, trying to maintain her faith and humor during politically challenging times, or helping a close friend die with dignity, Lamott seeks out both the divinity and the humanity in herself and everything around her. Throughout these essays, she writes of her struggle to find the essence of her faith, which she uncovers in the unlikeliest places. By turns insightful and hilarious, pointed and poignant, Grace (Eventually) is Anne Lamott at her perceptive and irreverent best.

  • Grace (Eventually), Lamott, continued

Anne Lamott is a real "grace" to her readers. Without being preachy or particularly religious, she is one of our most popular (read well-read) current spiritual authors(IMHO). In addition to commenting on the big questions, she is an excellent observer of our post-modern dilemna. The first of her works that I read, TRAVELING MERCIES: SOME THOUGHTS ON FAITH, was like a breath of spring, a drink of cool water to the thirsty, and GRACE (EVENTUALLY) is a wonderful second read of her works. She may offend some with her use of language with the odd "F bomb" here and there, but to dismiss her or put down the book because of these possible offenses to your sensibilities is the readers loss. For those whose feet are searching for a spiritual walk, Ann Lamott describes hers, the good, the bad and ...

  • Candid Humor, Wisdom and Grace from Anne Lamott

Grace (Eventually) by Anne Lamott is true poetic, yet candid artistry in motion, something we would expect from Anne Lamott. Her trademark witt and humor comprised with grace and poetry is in its truest form in her latest release. If you loved her writings in the style of Traveling Mercies, you will definitely love this one. it is truer to her best than "Plan B:Further Thoughts on Faith" was. While I enjoyed "Plan B," it didn't jump at me like "Traveling Mercies" did, and I was surprised and very excited to that "Grace(Eventually)" continued in the vein of her first book on Faith. She brings grace and candor to her Christian walk. Her testimony is one that even the most staunch atheist would be intrigued by.

  • Inspiring
