About this product

Product Information

Sixty-five million years ago, dinosaurs were not the only species fighting to survive on this planet. Earth was also the setting for countless battles between the gods, who grew more powerful day by day. Realizing that their power posed a threat to the rest of the galaxy, a great wizard from a parallel dimension banished one of the gods to the center of the moon. This in turn disrupted the balance of power among the gods, causing a huge explosion which enveloped Earth in dust. The results terminated most life on the planet as suspended animation held the surviving gods in check.

Millions upon millions of years later, a great meteor destroyed much of Earth. Though humans survived, their technology was all but wiped out. The continents rearranged themselves, wiping out all major cities. Earth was now "Urth" and its changes were only beginning as the great cataclysm wakened the gods from their slumber. With millions of years of vengeance to account for, you can bet that there will be plenty of Primal Rage!

In this prehistoric yet post-apocalyptic fighting game, you assume the role of one of these gods or another powerful warrior in his fight for supremacy. There are seven fighters to choose from, including five dinosaurs and two huge apes. In addition to a variety of combos and basic moves, each competitor has three special moves exclusive to him. For instance, Sauron, the T-Rex-like god of Hunger, unleashes his Primal Scream just as Blizzard, the god representing the essence of animal spirit in the form of a white gorilla, has the ability to "throw the air." Also assisting a fighter is his "rage" factor, providing a slight advantage that might just prove to be the difference.

Your objective in a one-player game is to defeat every competitor so as to claim his territory on Urth. You then must defeat them all, one right after the other, in a decisive final battle. A second player is also welcome and can even assume the CPU's role as ruler of a continent on Urth in the midst of a one-player game. Other gameplay options include the ability to adjust round times, the number of rounds in a match, difficulty (anywhere from 1 to 16), game gore (on or off) and controls.

  • Primal Rage for 32X isn't a Better Value then Genesis Version

The plot is 7 fictitious gods, mainly dinosaurs, two primates (Blizzard and Chaos) and Vertigo battle it out for world domination. Each character has quick, medium, slow, combo and fatality moves. In Arcade and 32x versions the game has a final decisive battle where you fight all foes one by one. Game has tons of replay value since it's got both single player and 2 player. This game is a great side scrolling 2d fighting game that is tons of fun. I'd have to advise against the 32x version for those who don't own 32x hardware. It's not worth it to by a 32x addon since very few games were even released for it. The 32x version of Primal Rage only adds a gore on/off switch, better background, and decisive final battle. Hardly worth the extra cash. Plus 32x will most likely become a collectors ...
