Great book to get some history on the land and how it may have affected your character background. Knowing what happened 100 years ago is nice, but this book tells you stuff about what happened TEN years ago. Also enjoy the new backgrounds for the characters.

If you're new to the Forgotten Realms and are playing 5e, then you should probably have this in your library. If you're a seasoned player who has older FR source books, you'll find this to be a waste of money. At just a little over 150 pgs, there's not much bang for your buck.

WOTC:chaos incarnate OR incredible business planning? Want all the info for D&D 5E , buy all the books! There is significant info exclusive to every book. Now we ( the players and DM's) need a guidebook telling us where that info is located for easy reference. And yes, just as I have bought every other book, I will make sure to buy "The 5E Reference Book" which should tell me what monster stats are located where, and which specific info is located where as well. 5E 5⭐

I ordered this and it came, no problems with delivery time! And, just in time to answer a question for an online discussion! This book is awesome if you have a desire to get the details right. It also includes some awesome racial variants as well. (Tieflings can have wings! 🤓) I highly recommend it for a players supplement to the PHB (Player's Hand Book)

I love this book because reading about the places, events, groups, etc. fires my imagination and gives me ideas for creating my own campaigns, adventures, and stories. The book is mostly that. 40 pages of places, history, gods and their portfolios. 60 pages of more detailed places. 20 pages of how all the races fit into the world, 25 more pages of class options, 10 pages of backgrounds. So for players, there's 35 pages of extra options. No new magic items, only a few cantrips to fit the new class options. No monsters or familiars. Again, if you want ideas to help you create your own fleshed out locales, this is your book.

As far as sourcebooks go, it's less costly and still provides a number of interesting options for the players. Not every class gets new archetypes, but all of them get some more insight into what they do and why they are what they are. It also has translations between the different worlds for how characters in this book can make sense in the others. Don't look past this book (or Xanathar's Guide to Everything) when gathering your sourcebooks for your game.
