    Exactly what the book was about

    Absolutely fantastic, Anthony Riches is an excellent writer, he weaves the fictional characters of Marcus Valerius Aquila and his familia led by Tribune Gauls Reutilus Scaurus forgive the spelling in to true life events, particularly the assassination of Emperor Commodus who we now know had all the symptoms of being bi-polar. The latest instalment in the Empire series Vengeance lived up to its name, namely Marcus getting his revenge on Commodus who had his own family killed at the start of the Empire series and also for the death of his wife at Commodus hands. The events played well , then the new Emperor being the uncle of scaurus, Pertinax who had one hell of a job stabilising Romes economy. I will not reveal the ending but to say the least Marcus lives to fight another day, and I hope ...
