A great model- with adjustment
Upon arrival I found this unit intermittently shorting my digitrax booster. A continuity check revealed the half shafts for the hi-railer (small) wheels were pressed together, shorting the axle. Slight readjustment to gap the axles in the sleeve has resolved the issue, leading to a very reliable unit. I'd recommend checking those axles on any such Bachmann unit!

Fair detail poor running capability
Cheap construction out of gauge wheels. Good only for a static display at best for a child's 4 x 8 start up layout. Pictures make it look good but not for any adult.

Something different for your layout
This is an ideal stand alone rail maintenance vehicle, or it makes for a great project base. As it comes without logos, it can be “anglicised” by some Network Rail stickers, or similarly altered with Australian railway identification. The smaller wheels can present some issues with complex track work, or track that is a little uneven. And watch out if you’ve got Hornby style uncoupling Ramos between your tracks as this may cause clearance issues. All in all this is a nice bit of machinery, and suitable for HO as much as it is for OO gauge. Check for price variants (in Australia).This is an ideal stand alone rail maintenance vehicle, or it makes for a great project base. Great little runner
Smiled at the level of detail, better than expected. Runs very well for its size. Bought for a project in hopes of installing a DCC decoder. Very easily isolated motor etc, and install went fine. Thumbs up on this little model. Very pleased.
