Performs exactly as the product description says. Sound is great. I've only played CD's and DVD's on it so far, but it has handled those two mediums flawlessly. So performance has thus far been perfect. Cosmetics are very nice also. Even when compared with Denon, Carver, etc. components in my system. I'm no real audiophile, just mid-level equipment, but sound is just fine for me. The Burr-Brown dacs do a nice job. I do have a very slight hiss when the player first starts up, but it only lasts for 10-15 seconds, so no big deal. I still am setting up my system, but I only expect the Pioneer to sound better when I have everything dialed in. Picture quality is excellent, but I do not have my HDTV as yet, so I'm not a good judge in this area. But other reviews I've read indicate excellent picture quality from this model. Have read of no issues as to the video quality. Only downside I have seen on the unit is the display, which is center on the unit. I have an old cabinet I use for my system, and when the doors are closed, you can't read the display. This is common on stereo equipment, however. My Denon receiver is the same. So I'm not hitting the Pioneer DV-47Ai rating because of it. Just wish mfgs would offset the display left or right some. My only complaint, and drop from excellent to good rating because of it, is not with this unit specifically, but with Pioneer customer service. I called to ask a couple of questions, and got the typical poor customer experience with Pioneer. Person on the other end of the phone didn't seem to care at all about my questions, and gave me nothing but the 'by the book' answers, which basically were no answers at all. consumers get this far too often with companies. Often, the difference in good vs bad customer service is when the person gives you the 'standard' answers and that doesn't do it, the person will actually TRY to get you an answer. Probably has more to do with the person than the company, I guess. But good companies employ good people that will make the extra effort. The difference in my call to Denon vs my call to Pioneer was like night and day. Just be aware of the company behind the product. Obviously, I hope you don't have to call Pioneer for anything. But that said, the DV-47Ai is still an excellent product. Pioneer might not know how to hire and train customer service folks, but they do know how to make a nice DVD player. Great sounding, great looking, reliable performance. Excellent product. Hard not to give it an excellent rating, but I do have to consider everything a buyer may run into, including calls to Pioneer.Read full review
What I like about this component is its versatility when paired with high-end audio/video products. The appearance of the player, its build quality, every thing about it says 1st class. I purchased this component because of its ability to play: SACD, DVD-Audio, and DVDs. I prefer the three-dimensional impact that this player is able to provide in a high-end surround system. I haven't found any fault with this component. If you are shopping and are thinking about buying a multi-channel Pioneer Elite player don't hesitate...you can't go wrong!
For the money this is a very nice player. It does a great job with sacd and dvd-a. Not as good with cd's but acceptable.
This CD-DVD Player in this Elite line of Pioneer Sweats And Yells quality and class as far as optical presentation. It don't need no one to sell it. Sound quality is splendorous and the video unsurpassed. Controls easy to understand. All "new" ones made in China- Chinese quality with American price- are disposable and nothing compared to this machine. Once you have this CD-DVD Player simply put you will not wish anything else. You got It!!!.That Is.
