Connectors worked well once I discovered a bit of a trap when crimping the male connector that fits into the T piece. As I was not paying attention. When I crimped, I pushed the male metal connector out of alignment /off centre, so that when I pushed the male connector in it was going in between the insulation of both the T piece and the male connector, so no connection. All good now.
