Super handheld GPS for the money. If you can find one around $50, it is worth the price. No bells and whistles, but for outdoor use such as boating, hunting, hiking etc. it is just fine. This is slightly older technology, but it gains a position fix fairly quickly and is seems very accurate. It is extremely easy to learn how to use. We purchased the unit to have in our boat, both as a safety precaution (along with a marine radio) and for navigation to published fishing and diving spots. One of the drawbacks to the unit is that it only allows four charachters for each position address. It holds 100 positions and will fix a position on the fly without any issue. The unit does exactly what we need for navigation, runs on 2 AA batteries, and is small enough and light enough to stow easily. I would recomend this unit as a starting unit for anyone needing basic GPS capability.Read full review
This gps worked great for finding the co:ords that I was looking for but I needed to be able to save more information about each waypoint. I was looking for a gps to use for geocaching and this o0ne got me within a few feet of each cache. However, I wanted to be able to download information directly from my computer and I could not do that with this gps without buying several other items like cables, maps, and software so I decided to go with a newer model. I would recommend this unit to someone who is looking for rugidness, and accuracy. Great for hikes, fishing, hunting, etc., even a good starter unit for geocaching if you don't mind inputting the co-ordinates.
I purchased this item because I do cemetery surveys and need the gps so it can be located for future use or updating. I did not need something more expensive, just something that will do the job. It is a good brand name and does what I need it to do. I also live in the mountains and it is also good to carry when hiking.
I like this GPS 310 because it is very simple to operate, it is very small, and it is very cheap as compared to the $2,500.00 to $3,500.00 units that are used for flying. This does not have the roll maps or color like the more expensive models, however this little unit will still do what the expensive models do and that is to get you from A to B. The reason for buying this one from ebay was to have a backup for the one unit that I have used for several years now. The magellan Company do not manufacture this model any longer. Because of this buying another was priority number one. It is a great instrument for navigation along with other radioes in the plane.
Fantastic clean product, it worked straight away from the box without too much hustle. Keep it up
