    Fat Albert Christmas special is classic Fat Albert with a good message

    Fat Albert Christmas special delivers a strong but simple message about helping others selflessly and worth watching, especially if you watched Fat Albert growing up. The characters still do all their ridiculousness and bad jokes while delivering their nice message.

    Christmas in the '80's is complete.

    "Hey Hey Hey! Fat and friends are putting together a Christmas play!!" (sorry; I had to say it). It's one part "Christmas Carol" ("Tightwound" Tyrone trying to rediscover the meaning of Christmas, following the death of his wife) and one part nativity scene (a down-on-their-luck family who has to resort to using the gang's clubhouse as the grounds to give birth to a baby). Of course, Albert is always there to open the door to the clubhouse to the family in their time of need and to not only see the hope in Mr. Tyrone but help him to rediscover his the spirit of goodness. This takes me back to a simpler time in the 80s watching "He-man/She-ra Christmas Special," "Mickey's Christmas Carol," and "the Fat Albert Christmas Special" (the latter obviously being in reruns).     An under-exposed Christmas classic

    Know what you're getting - this isn't Rudolph, or Frosty, or Charlie Brown Christmas. But it's probably right after Charlie Brown Christmas for my favorite holiday special. The story is typical Fat Albert - "if you're not careful, you might just learn something" - and the ending is every bit as touching as when Linus steps on the stage in "Charlie Brown" and reminds everyone of the true meaning of Christmas, aside from the commercialism. Fat Albert's Christmas special is especially relevant today - the story focuses on a homeless family who comes across the clubhouse needing a place to have their second child; unemployment, homelessness, and lack of health insurance figure prominently in a special that could have just as easily debuted in 2009 as in 1977.
