About this product

Product Information

Director John G. Avildsen's ROCKY is the stand-up-and-cheer saga of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), an underdog boxer who gets his million-to-one shot at love, self-respect, and the world heavyweight title. Rocky is a down-on-his-luck Philadelphia southpaw who works at a meat-packing factory while fighting at a local club. He's given the chance of a lifetime when the world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), chooses him as an unlikely opponent in his championship bicentennial fight. What was originally planned as a publicity stunt becomes a chance for Rocky to prove himself as a prizefighter while training with his cantankerous manager, Mickey (Burgess Meredith), to rise to the challenge. Thrilling scenes of Rocky's arduous training, including his unforgettable run up the Philadelphia Art Museum steps, are interspersed with a sweet and touching love story between the fighter and his best friend's shy sister, Adrian (Talia Shire). With the love of Adrian on his side, Rocky struggles to overcome the odds, fighting with all his heart in the glorious and brutal finale. Shot with gritty realism on the mean streets of Philadelphia, ROCKY introduced a new American cinematic hero, spurred on by rollicking action sequences and a rousing soundtrack. A triumph for star and screenwriter Stallone, who himself came from nowhere to reach the top, ROCKY is crowd-pleasing entertainment at its finest.

This lamp is so unbelievably adorable. So petite, yet makes a big statement. Came packaged very carefully safe! I had questions about the item and the seller took a little time to get back to me but the seller apologized and gave a reason. I do understand life and appreciated the gesture. I don’t like it when some people just ignore the fact. I would definitely be a return buyer from this seller.

  • One of Hollywood's finest efforts

1976's "Rocky," written by and starring Sylvester Stallone, is undoubtedly one of the best movies in the history of the medium. Not because of the hokey fight footage at the end, though that is quite entertaining in itself, but because it tells the story of Rocky Balboa, a Philadelphia wannabe boxer who is at the bottom of his career and self-esteem. At 30 he is approaching the age most boxers think about retirement; the manager of his training gym (Burgess Meredith) kicks him out of his locker, and calls him a bum-which Rocky can hardly deny. Fate takes a hand, however, when heavyweight champ Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) decides to put on an exhibition match giving an unknown a "shot" at the title-and selects Rocky "The Italian Stallion" for the bout. Mick, Rocky's gym manager, asks to ...

  • Rocky

This movie is wonderful. Well written, well cast and some of the most incredible fight scenes ever filmed. This movie, the first one - and the very last movie, Rocky Balboa are the only two that are really worthwhile in the Rocky series in my humble opinion. Coincidently, they were both written by Sylvester Stallone. A big thumbs up!
