Just plug it in, select the right output device, and it works flawlessly on both Windows and Ubuntu. I use it to bypass my laptop's DAC and rely on my amplifier's built-in one. Only minor gripe: the cable could be a little thicker to feel bit more robust. Otherwise, perfect. The seller was excellent: the item arrived quickly and in great condition.
