Joel McCrea in a family friendly film, general entertainment with a moral message about child rearing.
"Cattle Drive" is more of a family western than an 'adult' themed film. The story is about a young, rich and spoiled child Dean Stockwell gets lost in the desert; he is rescued by a cattle drive foreman. Along the cattle drive, the young lad learns many life lessons, changing from self-centered, rude and petulant into a considerate, wiser and thoughtful of others young man. The photography is great, technicolor nice and acting passable. A moral message for the family. General entertainment.
The DVD is too expensive for what you get. Should be a $10 retail price and not $20.
I saw this movie on TV but didn't see the end. So of course I had to buy the DVD to see it LOL. I'm glad I did! My husband enjoyed it and it's actually a great movie for kids to watch also. Clean language which doesn't happen often in movies anymore.
This is a real good old time western look at the Scenery it’s absolutely beautiful it was filed like it’s hard to Define it but they don’t make movies like this anymore late 40zs early 70 zs Joel McCrea made tons of great movies
I GREW UP IN A TIME WHEN WESTERNS WERE KING, WHEN ACTORS LIKE JOHN WAYNE, JOEL MCCREA, RANDOLPH SCOTT, CLINT WALKER, GUY MADISON , GARY COOPER, ALAN LADD RULED THE SCREEN, NOW ADAYS, NOBODY EVEN KNOWS WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT A SHAME, FOR WE AS AMERICANS ARE LOSING OUR HERITAGE, OUR CULTURE, OUR PAST AND WHERE WE CAME FROM.
END OF ERA, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN,NOT AS LONG AS WE HAVE THESE CLASSIC WESTERNS LIKE CATTLE DRIVE AROUND TO WATCH, OF COURSE THEY REPRESENT TIMES PAST, BUT LETS NOT FORGET WHERE WE CAME FROM.
GOOD ACTING, WONDERFUL PLOT AND ENTERTAINING, GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY , ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE HAVING A GOOD OLD CLASSIC WESTERN IN YOUR COLLECTION .
