"instructions" incoherently translated into Chinglish. They mentioned a blue light, but there is none. Works OK though & nice & compact. 3 USB outlets is good. Not sure it's really 50,000mah as charge drops quickly from 100% in use, but works ok

Like most Chinese import's, I was expecting that it wouldn't meet it's specified rating. Hence why I doubled the capacity I needed and hoped it would come in close to that. Unfortunately, it's no where near the stated capacity. The rated capacity is supposed to be 50,000mAh (meaning 50000 mA or 50 amps per hour). Now I know this will not deliver 50A for an hour as each port is only rated for 2.1A at 5V. So I went about testing the unit to see exactly what it's capacity is. I started with a USB plug that I could attach a load to. Each port should be able to supply 2.1A. Using 4 x 10 ohm resistor in parallel to give a 2.5ohm load @100W and using ohms law the current flowing will be 5V/2.5ohm = 2A. Put a current meter in series to see the actual current being drawn and time it. The reality is that @2.5ohm load, the unit can only supply 1.4A. Ok, so it doesn't charge as fast. How long did it maintain 1.4A? Roughly 2.5hrs. That would make the unit's capacity 3500mAh. It's not even one tenth of the rated capacity? It's a known fact with most rechargeable batteries, that using them at higher current draws they under perform. However, since we're essentially talking about a phone charger, you should be able to charge at least one device at 2.1A. This is how it would be used, not 5V at 0.1A or lower. It will charge a phone, just don't expect that you will get multiple charges out of it. You'll be lucky to get one. In conclusion: If you're after a 5000mAh charger, the pricing is a little steep as you can get better quality units for around $15. Just be aware, you're buying a 3500mAh charger and not 50000mAh, then it puts the pricing into perspective.Read full review
