Audioslave - Out of Exile
No one knew quite what to expect when former Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell joined Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine. Both bands had produced albums noted for their lyrical prowess, RAGM's always political, Soundgarden more introspective, but Soundgarden were grunge, RAGM a rock band fronted by a rapper. Audioslave's self titled debut album saw heavy rock mixed with prophetical lyrics, fusing some of the best elements of the member's previous bands. Their second album, Out of Exile, shows only occasional glimpses of this. A softer blend of rock with slightly more mundane lyrics, the album is almost redeemed by track 1: "Your Time Has Come", 2 "Out of Exile", 7 "The Worm", 8 "Man or Animal", and on some versions a great acoustic live recording of ... An excellent second album from Audioslave, I highly recommend Out of Exile and if you enjoyed their first album this one will certainly not disappoint.
