Though my primary tool for cutting steel is a dry cut chop saw, this thing does great for the cuts that I can't do on the chop saw. I use it for notching Angle iron when I weld it at 90 deg a lot. The results were great. Very little burring, cuts were straight (once I got used to it). I did cut a piece in my vice. I was trying to cut flush with the vise jaws and accidentally cut about a half inch into my vise before I realized it. That was my fault. For the saw's part, I didn't notice a slow down in its cutting going into the vise. I guess I can count that as a plus, but still upset about my vise. :-(

This is a good solid accurate cutting portable bands aw. Very useful dual purpose tool when matched up with a SWAG portable saw table version 4. Perfect. I can cut metals, wood, and plastics. It attaches and detaches from the saw table in seconds.

Smooth cutting and lots of power. The LED work light helps but could always be brighter for aging eyes.

Pretty expensive, look for a good deal like on Ebay. A good product. I use one at work, and I love the variable speed and the deep throat. Finally justified owning one. Don't know much about the battery operated ones, but I like the corded models. I have cordless drills laying around with dead batteries, and corded models(black & decker) that I have used for over 30 years. Batteries are so expensive, can't justify buying battery powered tools.
