Truly Pioneers best ever A/B Amplifier/Receiver. THX Ultra 2 certification, fantastic power 63 pounds of quality. It is from 2001-2003 and doesn't have HDMI, Application control, or some of the most recent decoding but pound for pound at today's prices a fantastic bargain. MSRP was $3000.00 for a reason, the aka FlagShip VSX49tx had a MSRP $4200.00 and not worth the difference. I believe this was a real snafu for Pioneer marketing offering up and not very different system at 31% less was a mistake for the VSX49tx. Copper shielding and a chip set difference that only an oscilloscope can differentiate. If HDMI connectivity and application control is of no concern and the latest decoding (limited availability on Blue Ray) then this is a steal.....

I had both the 49TXi and have the 47TX, and the 47TX is a better receiver than the 49. Solid, had this for about 5 years now, and its built like a tank and works flawless. Good to invest in a fan for the top of this unit (I have a Aircom T8 cooling this and it never gets above 90) They simply dont make them like this anymore, Pioneer elite stuff now a days is all cheap plastic garbage. Do the comparison. This was 3,000$ back in the day and even at that price its worth it. Avoid the 49TXi, it has internal build problems

The receiver was nice but the unit came damage from fedex so I have to buy a Pioneer vsx-59txi flagship but for me it was better the vsx-47tx I love that particular model. That model don't come with any problems.
