I've only had it a few hours, but I was convinced it was the right tool for the job the first time I put a circuit board on it. Four thumbscrews: two to adjust the length, two to lock the PCB in place at the desired angle. Easy as pie! My only minor quibble is that it could've been a tad heavier. It's a little better than what I expected for the price, so I'm definitely not complaining. I think I could fill the sturdy hollow steel pieces with something heavy if I need it to be heavier. I agree with the fellow who said this should be your first PCB clamp.

I purchased this as I have some equipment repairs to do and also have some kits to assemble. I have put a board in it and it holds it well. I haven't done any soldering with it yet. The thumb screws maintain tension without slipping. The arms which hold the board are plastic and the base is metal. It will hold a board with a width of 8 inches, while the arms allow the board to stand about 2 5/8 inches above the base. There are four different width notches in the holders to accommodate different board thicknesses. I anticipate that this will meet my needs.

I am the owner of a small engineering firm, and I was used to using the “helping hands” alligator clip fixtures for holding circuits... this device blows them away. I’m pleased with the quality for the price point. Whoever brought this to market is a really practical genius. - Jason

The alligator clip "helping hands" type unit are fine for tiny stuff like wires, components, and tiny small boards. When it comes to mid to large PSBs they're useless. This unit puts the PCB where you need It. allows tilt for large board and 360 rotation for smaller PCBs. This is probably the best buy under $20 I've made in a while. You can graduate to Panavise, Weller, or Hakko later but this unit gets your PCB off of the table ,elevated, and secure. The build quality is surprisingly solid for the price. I'm loving this thing.

First off, let me say I was skeptical when viewing the photos. The blue uprights ARE plastic, as are the knobs on the set screws which tighten down the swivel bars. But after using the thing, I'm convinced that it WILL stand up to normal use. It might be prone to failure if you tighten the set screws really hard (or drive over it with your truck), so be gentle! When used properly, it is a real pleasure. Pop in your PCB, tighten it in place by loosening the set screws and sliding the movable base, then populate the top side. Loosen it just a bit and flip it over, then tighten again and start soldering. The unit is heavy enough to not move around while pressing down with the soldering iron, and also has rubber feet to keep it from slipping away from you even if it's on a smooth surface. Wish I'd invented it myself!Read full review
