Television veterans John Ritter and Katey Segal trade in the risqu comedy of THREE'S COMEDY and MARRIED WITH CHILDREN for the family friendly fun of 8 SIMPLE RULES. When his wife Cate (Segal) returns to the workforce, Paul Hennessy (Ritter) takes a bigger role in the lives of his two daughters and one son. Though the girls may appear to be of dating age to the rest of the world, Paul just isn't ready to cut his daughters loose. He comes up with a series of rules that seem perfectly reasonable to him, such as "If you make my daughters cry, I'll make you cry." His heart is in the right place, but the teens certainly don't agree, resulting in lots of sitcom hilarity. Guest stars such as Cybill Shepherd, Jason Priestley, and Terry Bradshaw stop by to join in the first season fun, and this release includes all 28 episodes. Note: A Must Have For all Kaley Cuoco Fans of (Penny, on Big Bang Therory) Kaley, Plays "Bridget" (Daughter)in this Funny and Warm Sitcom ... I give 5 Stars to this DVD!!! and 5 Stars more to Kaley :)Read full review
I bought this DVD because I like watching reruns on ABC Family. I have watched this show since it aired, and the first season is hilarious. This DVD set also includes a special behind-the-scenes blooper reel. All 28 episodes are gathered in a 3-disc set. Starring: John Ritter (Three's Company, Problem Child Series), Katey Sagal (Married...with Children, Futurama), Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Martin Spanjers (Two of a Kind), & Amy Davidson (So Little Time). This is a great show for the whole family. The show is both entertaining and unique. The rivalry between teen sisters Bridget (Cuoco) and Kerry (Davidson) is so real, they could pass as real-life siblings. Rory (Spanjers) is the younger brother who vies on tormenting his sisters. Cate (Sagal) is fun to watch as the mother-figure especially after her seeing her on Married...with Children. And of course, John Ritter's character, Paul, the father-figure, is hysterical. The problems he faces with his teenage son and daughters can really be compared to problems real people face today. Buy this set. It's worth every penny, and more!Read full review
Brilliant comedic acting. I have see no sitcom this smart since Married With Children. They never have to stoop to crudeness or profanity. The humor is appropriate for ages eight to eighty. I watched it with my thirteen year old nephew and he found it more engrossing than his " hundred dollar video games " on his two gaming systems. I make sure he is well rounded and not socially diminished by video games, texting, etc. He plays piano, speaks Latin, has his black and red belt in karate, camps with his scout troop, and I even chauffer him on his dates. I feel its important that he appreciates media from the Eighties and Nineties so he know where his high tech stuff started. This sitcom is a must have.

First of all I have to say I have a Crush on the character (and actree) Bridget...okay well thats over...I bought this DVD because I loved this show! I watched it when it first was on ABC TGIF! I love the characters! It is basically about a father who stays at home to take care of his kids. He have a popular and sexy daughter, an outcast, loner, to emotional middle daughter, and a prankster of a son. This TV is very real and deals with High School problems. I missed this show when it went off air but I continue to watch it on ABC family. Now its on DVD...I am very happy! I have to say I only like the first couple of season because after John Ritter died they replaced him with David Spade (Who i dont think is really funny...sorry!). But seriously watch the first couple of seasons! this is such a good show!Read full review
I bought this DVD collection on eBay recently but I haven't received it yet so I can't comment on the actual DVD collection. I do however just love this show and God Rest His Soul have always been a John Ritter Fan. Since I can't seem to catch enough episodes of 8 simple rules on ABC Family I just had to get this first season collection. I'll be Looking for more seasons to buy as well. I like David Spade too, but of course he could never take the place of John but I find he brings a different feel of comedy to the show. Both are good in my opinion just different.
