George Clinton is a man of many faces... sometimes for reasons of convenience (being able to record for more than one label at once hence have his sugarloaf and eat it too) other as a means of expressing his unique artistic genius. What's interesting about this album is that on one hand, the hardcore beats and fuzzed out guitars clearly let you know you're listening to the funk(adelic) side of the P - - on the other hand, there's an uncanny SLY & THE FAMILY STONE influence throughout... and clearly its intentional... everything from the groove, to the very deep and up front message tunes says Sly, including the screaming Hammond, and even vocal arrangements. - - and you know something... It works because George Clinton diggin' on Sly Stone is just as righteous...... well George Clinton diggin on Jimmi Hendrix (which clearly he does), or heck... Tower of Power diggin' on JB, or Prince diggin' on Parliament, or even a modern funk punk band like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers diggin' on George Clinton... when you take one strong sound and merge it with another, yet manage to retain your identity (which Clinton does) you have a great album - -Read full review
