The render quality on the first three episodes of Season 1 is mediocre - maybe due to available source material? After that they look much better. A spot check of other seasons looks good considering it's DVD not Blu-Ray.

I watched this show as a kid growing up in the '60's when it first came on TV. I was only about 10 so I didn't get all the grown-up situations. But watching it now, 60 years later, it's cool to see so many great actors at both the beginning of their careers, Redford, Duvall, Sheen, Caan and towards the end Fairbanks Jr., Lew Ayres, Crawford. Plus the hundreds of character actors featured throughout the run of the series that we've seen in thousands of roles combined My only complaint was the price of the set, but no one put a gun to head and forced me to buy it. These series of Route 66 seem to move slow, and without very much excitement. I purchased it because I though I missed out during the years that the show made it's run on television. The entire box series was approximately $72.00. I could have lived without it. I'll keep it, and watch a show from time to time.
