About this product

Product Information

The sixth book in the internationally bestselling Clifton Chronicles from master storyteller Jeffrey Archer Archer continues his storytelling magic to create characters of spellbinding substance, and readers can count on his surprising twists and shocking conclusion. Here, just when the end seems too tidy, Archer provides a killer cliffhanger. Publishers Weekly Cometh the Hour opens with the reading of a suicide note, which has devastating consequences for Harry and Emma Clifton, Giles Barrington and Lady Virginia. Giles must decide if he should withdraw from politics and try to rescue Karin, the woman he loves, from behind the Iron Curtain... but is Karin who she says she is? Sebastian Clifton is now the Chief Executive of Farthings Bank but his rivals continue their attempts to supplant him. Harry Clifton remains determined to get Anatoly Babakov released from a gulag in Siberia, following the international success of his acclaimed book, Uncle Joe. Harry's wife Emma convinces her new friend Margaret Thatcher to raise the subject with the Russian President when she visits Moscow. But then something unexpected happens that none of them could have anticipated. Cometh the Hour is the penultimate book in the Clifton Chronicles and, like the five previous novels - all of which went to number one on the Sunday Times bestseller list - showcases Jeffrey Archer's extraordinary storytelling with his trademark twists. The 7th and final book in the Clifton Chronicles series, This Was a Man, will publish in November 2016. Preorder now! Engrossing.

within the first few pages, the author has a captive audience. Very well written and thought out, Jeffrey Archer has a great talent and knows how to get his readers wanting more.

  • Good book in good condition.

Be aware that this is part of seven books that make up the Clifton Chronicles and this is quite late in the set. The first book is Only time will tell. That said, Jeffrey Archer never disappoints with twists and turns . His books always have a twist making them unpredictable. I would recommend this whole series of 7 books. They take you from 1920 through to the 80s. A very good body of work.

  • ARCHER’S BEST YET!

I’m almost finished reading ‘Cometh The Hour’, the sixth book in Jeffrey Archer’s compelling story of The Clifton Chronicles. This is the best one sor far - with all the trademark twists and turns of an Archer story. I’m sure in the last couple of paragraphs there will be a jaw dropping cliffhanger to make sure the reader will be rushing out to purchase the final episode. An excellent and most enjoyable read.

  • An enjoyable read. Great characters. Story is open ended so leads you on to the next volume. Addictive!

This book was exactly as described. In very good condition, nice and clean for used book. This was the only volume of the Clifton Chronicles I didn't have so was delighted to get hold of it.

  • Brilliant!

I have now read all seven of "The Clifton Chronicles" and found them absolutely addictive. I read the first six twice in anticipation of the final book. The books are now going around four of my friends who are equally addicted. Highly recommended reading.
