I purchased this book as a textbook for one of my undergraduate classes, and I must say that it is a great book that presents real issues in the study of theology and Christianity. Issues such as sin, Hell, God's foreknowledge (definately an important topic) and others are each presented with two or more opposing views. Each viewpoint is well-represented and argued for, and I have yet to find any bias that the book tries to pull the reader toward on any of the issues. The book simply lays the idea out and leaves the reader to do more searching on the topic. While it is not a comprehensive study on any of the issues, it does lead the reader to a fuller understanding of the issues we Christians deal with. It's a great introduction and reference text, and it spurs the reader on to learn ...

  • The title states exactly what the book does - it covers material across the spectrum.

If you're looking for an excellent intermediate to advanced level book that covers most aspects and levels of theology from various vantage points, this is the book for you. It is directed towards Protestant/Pentecostal Christians for the most part, but I could see how it could be an effective tool for Catholics as well. It mainly focuses on the varying difference between Arminianism, traditionalism, and Calvinism. It generally gives content, letters, descriptions, and discussions equally for all sides of the theological debate, but it leans more against Calvinism - which is what I wanted. It it very well written and put together. The paper is thick and it will last a long time - it ...

  • Great tool for understanding differing doctrines

This is a terrific resource. I bought this to replace a copy my son took when he left for college. The way several sides of each doctrine or tenet is given objectively is the real strength here. It forces you to evaluate your own position, and shows you why others may hold the views they do. Love this book. Very easy to read, even for such difficult and lofty subjects.
