    Brilliant! Couldn't put it down!

I was gripped from page 1 all through to the end. Some grizzly scenes were in it but the pace of the book and the depth of the characters really had me hooked. I've had to re read the last few chapters as I skimmed them as I was so keen to get to the end and find out the ending! Some people have moaned about it portraying a stereotype image of Latin America but the truth is it is a violent place and migrants do leave. It's interesting to read a story from the migrant's point of view, learning what they endure. Scenes containing murder and rape so not for the faint hearted but the love and warmth counter balance it. Humanity in all its forms are explored. A great read. Highly recommended. You'll learn a bit of Spanish too!

    Cultural appropriation?

I haven't finished it yet. Reading it for a book group. Not sure how I feel about it and am probably predjudiced as I had read about the controversies surrounding its publication the U.S.
