I'm a "Baby Boomer" who never saw this film when I was a kid in the 50's. Didn't know it exhisted until a few days ago! Caught the movie on AMC one recient evening , about 10 minutes into the story. Judy Holiday's character "GOT ME" right away. Since I have always been in Sales,(usually big companies), and now have a retirement account that owns stocks in large and small impersonal companies, it caught my interest right away the way Judy played her part, and surprised when I heard George Burns narrating the story, occasionally. Paul Douglas portraid the role of an X Board of Directors/corporate owner AND then the elected public servent well, also. Another reason to say "Government, bah-humbug!" Very "was it really like this?" the way the Management (Board of Directors) and government law making processes were presented - VS -the "other employees and the small Stockholders". Very exadurated but true of the "Boom Years" after WWII. until Vietnam Era. Judy Holliday did an EXCELLENT Job playing her role, and although the movie was made and set in the 1950's, still had the "Blondie"(Penny Singleton - Arthur Lake) feel of the 1940's, without all the comedy and sight gags. Good for all audiences, not an "old Movie" feel, except all but 5 minutes are in "Classic" black and white, like my TV was as a kid! GREAT MOVIE, that is why the purchase!Read full review
Judy Holiday, was one of my very favorite actresses when I was a child and saw this movie for the first time. I also very much liked Paul Douglas, who plays the male lead in this very smart and funny movie. The performances are entertaining and delightful to watch, the movie moves at a good pace, never losing momentum. Also the cast is made up of many familar faces from the movies and T V, all give very good performaces. You will not be sorry you watched it.
Classic movie. Dvd in great condition. Received it couple of days when thought would be a week.

I saw this movie on a black and white tv and it is by far better on a color set. Very good leads and a good supporting cast. The screenplay has some nice twists too. Over a very under rated movie.
