Paper Monsters is no Depeche Mode
All in all, I loved this album. I'm an avid Depeche Mode fan, so this was right up my alley. There was only a couple minor problems. 2 or 3 songs sound like copies of other songs (think M.C. Hammer-Can't Touch This [Superfreak]). But the melody is changed just a little. Every time I hear one of these songs, I'm reminded of the original song, not Dave Gahan's. He gives a good edge to his hard tunes, but the slower ones aren't the best. If I didn't LOVE Depeche Mode, this would've gotten an even lower rating. Dave Gahan Paper Monsters outstanding and left me wanting more
I'm not sure why I waited so long to get Dave's Paper Monster CD. It really shows his talents as a songwriter/singer. My favorite song on the album is Stay. Dave sings it with such raw emotions and vocal diversity that it's quickly become one of my favorites.
