Been Here, Done This
I had high hopes for Rise of Nations... I have been looking for a build and conquer game for a bit, having kept myself away from their addicting grasp for too long. I had heard decent things about Rise of Nations. However from playing it... I am not so much a fan. The conquer the world game play is like the Warcraft II campaign, but without the interesting plot. Each 'turn' you have a board game like map where you plan which areas you will conquer. Then it launches you into an scenario, where sometimes you are just to clear out some enemies with limited units, or other times you have to build your cities, and then attack your neighbors. You usually start with some units and a couple base buildings, but you are building pretty much from scratch each time. (Like you would in each scenario ... I had high hopes for Rise of Nations... This is not what I expected. I was looking for a Civ style game where I slowly spread across the world and could leverage my existing infrastructure to crush my enemies beneath my boots. For the control freak I can be, Rise of Nations was not what I was looking for.

An old, amazing game
I love it, built on the idea of age of empires...this game improves it 10 fold with multiple ages and races...One of the best games iv'e played on pc and now i have it on mac....amazing still!!!! You should try it....a strategy game with a twist of modernization...Amazing! :)

Rise of Nations: Gold Edition (Mac Games)
for as old and simple a game it is, its a classic. this game is alot of fun for first timers and for the people who like simple but really fun games.

I bought this for my son, who has played it at a friends house. He loved the game but we have a mac. Finally found the mac version. He was very excited and loves this game.
