Star Fox 2 is my favorite Starfox game in the franchise. It has new and exciting gameplay, it introduces Starwolf, and you can fly in 3d areas, not like the original game. So finding a repro copy for the Super Nintindo on ebay for 35 bucks, how can I say no to that! Luckly for me, this repro has to be the best Starfox 2 repro out there, only because it runs perfectly. No glitches, framerate, or slowdown issues. I love it!

There's only one flaw with starfox, overscan. If everything was visible on the screen, it would have been so bad. It has some framerate issues. That being said, it's amazing how well it came out back then. I would love to see another starfox type on the rails shooter again on a modern platform.

This game was one of the first console polygon flight sim/shooters made. It has some dated graphics, but that is mainly due to the limitations of the processors running the game. In fact, the game had to have an additional chip put into the cartridge itself (Super FX) to make the 3-D graphics you see in the game. While there isn't any textures on the polygons like you will see in modern videogames, the things you will see can be much appreciated by those who remember the older days of videogames and what kind of spectacular display of power this game was in its heyday. It has spawned sequels on subsequent systems due to the initial game player reception to this game. So in short, to make a legacy like that last until present, it had to be another great Nintendo game for this first edition.Read full review
The year was 1993, and the world had seen very little 3D computer graphics, let alone play with them in a video game. Then along comes StarFox, and egad it was awesome. Utilizing the new FX chip (whatever that does) this game unleashed polygonny goodness upon the kids of the 90's for the first time ever. You play as Fox McCloud, leader of a team of anthropomorphic animal fighter pilots called StarFox. Your ship flies along a set track, although you have some maneuverability besides that--think of the starship levels of Lego Star Wars, except with SNES graphics. You have several wingmen: Slippy the frog, Peppy the rabbit, and Falco the bird ... thing. They don't really do anything, but you're given the choice to help them when they're in trouble every so often. They also provide idle radio chatter to give life to the game. StarFox has several pathways containing different levels, but I haven't figured out how it decides which path you take. Basically there are third-person shooting levels where you can see your ship, and there are first-person shooting levels where you see everything through your cockpit. The levels range from flying near the ground and avoiding buildings to asteroid fields, to inside space stations and capital starships. The grapics aren't that good compared to games of the present, and the frame rate is a little shoddy, but MAN. They went out of their way to make sure the game with the new technology was also fun to play. (And my man Shigeru Miyamoto worked on it, so you KNOW it's got to be awesome.) If you've never played, seen, or heard of this game, you've seriously got some issues. The end boss is one of the defining icons of the Super Nintendo, and the whole game is fun to just pick up and play for however long you've got. Supposedly Starfox 64 is even better, but after that one the series went totally downhill. Stick with the first couple games.Read full review
Star fox! This game is a part of the Legendary 20 for Super Nintendo. When I first bought this game back in the early 90's, the graphics were jaw dropping. Of course, to the eyes of todays people, the graphics are something that a child can do. But back then, when technology was at it's peak, these graphics were something of sorcery and witchcraft. Neverbefore seen. This game is extremely fun and engaging. Plenty of secrets along your way to destroy Andross. * Fun and engaging story * Secrets within secrets * Laughable graphics to todays standards but legendary back then * Awesome Music * Awesome Gameplay with a replay value of 8/10 Buy this game today and add it to your collection of Super Nintendo games! 9.5 / 10, ★★★★.5, A Rating, ★COLLECTIBLE★ Status
Love this game, and I’m glad to have a physical copy again to pop into the SNES on a CRT. Took me two tries to get it working but overall great game!

Star Fox for the SUPER NINTENDO! There have been a few sequels on different systems, but this is the one that started it all. This was the first game to feature the FX Chip as well, enhancing graphics. Well, I have to say, the first time I played this game I was blown away. You truelly never had seen anything like this before on the SNES or any other game system for that matter. These days compared to what they're doing now, it looks a bit pixelated, and more like a simulation of something rahter than playing a game in a real environment, but to actually say and believe those things is for video game snobs. Why? Because this was basically the first time on the SNES that you were in 2D. There truelly were effects in this game that have never been seen before either. Sometimes when a lot of stuff gets on the screen, the game got a little choppy, but it barely happened. Maybe you don't like these kinda of games, shooters, or flying games period, but if nothing else it is a very unique experience. The arwing (the plane you fly) does look amazing considering the time the game was made. In general it's a very cool looking airplane/space craft. But the FX chip, although parts of it were straight lines to form what may have supposed that have been circles, gives the craft a very sleek look. It's challenging and the different levels are cool too. You can always shoot your crew, which I always has a lot of fun doing (especially Falco, he was always being a jerk). So yeah, this is something I would say to try out, it's a lot of fun.Read full review
StarFox is a great game to play - the voices are OK, but the game is awesome.

Star fox is one of the best games for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This game is the first to use the Super FX Chip Technology, allowing stunning 3d polygonal graphics. In the game you play as the fighter squads leader Fox McCloud. You will be piloting his Air-wing fighter through planets, and space. You have 3 wing-men in your squad which are Slippy Toad, Falco Lombardi, and Peppy Hare. They are not of much help, you mostly have to get them out of trouble. For weapons you shoot out a lazer type ray and also have Nova bombs to use when needed. You fly through levels taking out ground and air enemies and at the end of each level you face off with a big boss enemy. The game does have replay value as their are different paths you can take to get to the last level. Certain paths are harder than others. Also, its a very fun game to play. Master flying your plane and you can discover hidden levels and extra nova bombs ect. Also dodging enemies attacks with barrel rolls is always fun. This game is a MUST BUY for anyone with a SNES. Add this game to your collection today and you wont be sorry!Read full review
