I can not rave enough on this book and the entire series. The characters are so real to me now I expect them to walk in the room. This is a time travel book and is full of historical facts, events from 18th century Scotland. Gabaldon is very acurate of Scottish life in the American colonies during the pre-Revolutionary period. A romantic story full of love, hate, war, highland violence and intrugue. Language is moderate. Some sex, but scenes are not overly offensive. Characters are bright and vivid. Very LONG books, but they did end too soon! I Recommend all the Outlander books by this author.
this series of novels is beyond great. i have not read any other books of this caliber.i have been reading novels as far back as 1966.nothing can touch this series.it is full of history, romance, intrigue, some facts, everlasting ,unending all consuming LOVE.it just has everything we want in a novel.i really enjoy the way that diane continues the story into all six books. i first noticed this series of books at the high school where i substituet. they were in the historical area.none of the students were interestedin them as they were too thick(you know how they are about reading, the smaller the better).anyway the libarian told me about these.said i might be interested .she knew how i liked to read about scotland (we dicussed how much i liked scotland) was i ever interested. best suggestion ever about books. my ancestors come from scotland i am told .so i guess that's why i have always enjoyed scottish books and it's history.although i was a little depressed over such a loss the highlander went throughRead full review
The sixth book in the adventures of Claire and Jamie Fraser. They have crossed centuries and oceans to live a life together on the newly formed Fraser's Ridge in the American colonies. Diana Gabaldon creates characters that you will love, hope for, laugh with, cry with, dream about, cheer for, and ultimately never forget, long after you've finished reading her books. Diana's characters truly come to life and remain with you forever. It was again, impossible to put the book down. This book is spectacular in every way. The mental images Diana can weave and convey to the reader's mind with mere words is simply amazing. I highly recommend this entire series!
The Outlander Series is my favorite by far. Diana Gabaldon weaves, historical fiction, fantasy and romance together seamlessly, such that you almost believe in time travel and falling into a cleft in a stone, The love between Jamie and Clare Fraser is touching without being sappy and gives one hope that they may one day feel a love so strong. I've been moved to tears more than once reading this series and I definitely not someone that happens to often! You are so deeply engrossed in the novel you've read 500 pages before you know it. I've read this series at least 10 times and every time I am as enthralled as the last.
This is a wonderful book. I've read all of the books in the series so far, and Diana Gabaldon never disappoints. The series is about a woman named Claire and her adventures when she goes back in time about 200 years to 17th century Scotland. Not recommended for young readers because of the graphic content, but a great read for anyone mature. I started reading them when I was 16. Very long books with a lot of content, and this one is one of the best. I bought this one as soon as it hit the shelves. I can't wait for the next one to come out!!
