Can't fail recipes; great photos and tips.

Ina's tried and true recipes from her takeout store. She offers additional clues helping the reader decide whether to make them, like her tip that her hummus is very lemony. Good to know. Helpful, realistic photos. I love this book.

  • Entertaining at Home--Like a Pro!

The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, brings you over 75 well-tested recipes from her professional kitchen to yours. With bold photos, clear directions, and simple ingredients, you too can entertain at home like a pro! Barefoot Contessa takes the mystery out of sushi, explains cooking terms, and gives you tips on how to "make it easy on yourself." There are several recipes that you can make the day ahead, ideas for grouping items together, and there are even sources for procuring platters, tableware, kitchen equipment, and mail-order specialty foods. However, note that one does not need fancy or obscure equipment or ingredients to make these recipes. I like that these are recipes that do not require a lot of skill and that you could see yourself making without too much trouble. You know ...

  • Love the great pictures-Love Ina

Would have liked a paperback (not as heavy), but very pleased and happy. I'm a fan of Ina's and lover her recipes. I like the great pictures to show what your food should look like in the end. Great addition to my collection.

  • The Barefott Contessa Cookbook

I have recently become a fan of The barefoot Contessa (Ina garten) and wanted to own one of her lavishly illustrated coffee table cookbooks. I checked them all out of my local library and settled on this, her first book--not because it is better, but because it contains more of the recipes I am interested in. The photos are lovely, directions easy to follow and taste is superb, plus they are not time consuming to prepare. I highly recommend this book for anyone who just wants a better way to roast a chicken, make delicious French Onion Soup, roast vegetables and more. Ina offers many helpful entertaining, decorating and shopping tips as well. You can't go wrong with this book.
