Fast and reliable DVD drive for PCs, doesn't work with Android TV.
This drive has proven to be fast and reliable even when reading slightly imperfect DVDs. I don't have any 4K discs to test it with as yet. It is amazingly slim and light, so if you want something easily portable this fits the bill. I like that it has a USB-C port for connection rather than a hard-wired cable, so you can use whatever length of cable you need; the supplied cable is a little short (44cm). No additional power connection is required which keeps things tidy and simple. My main disappointment is that it does not work with my Android TV - when I plug it in to the USB port it's just ignored. While the Verbatim product information made no claims about this I assumed that it would just work, but unfortunately that's not the case. For What I Wanted It For Its Terrific.
I bought this item to rip my Bluray collection which it does fantastically. After doing some research, the firmware can also be updated to rip UHD (even though it can read the discs). The products slim with a anodized plastic top. Discs are easy to eject/insert. The transfer speeds aren't terrible but I thought it would have been better with USB-C connectivity. But I think the determining factor is the read speeds of optical disks (around 5-10x and up to 10M/s generally). Normal DVDs take around 10-15min and Bluray around 15-25min each to rip. The only other minor gripe is the relatively short 400mm cable and bulky USB A to C adapter. Personally I would have thought a USB-C to USB-C cable would be the go (or two separate cables). But the short cable can barely reach around the drive to ... I bought this item to rip my Bluray collection which it does fantastically. Fantastic look and built.
The good side of the product is the hardware (eg. the material and the connection) the down side is the software which is using Nero. For me personally difficult to use. I will recommend you download a software from the one you are provided thank you.

I found this drive great! Plays everything I have from CD to 4k Blu-ray. Plug and play on Windows 11. Note that you need your own software to play Blu-rays.
