Easy to use format. Still need to buy a guide book and map of S Africa.
I am planning to travel independently in S Africa in the winter and bought this book unseen while searching for a map of SA. As it is large format and described as an atlas i thought it would be useful to plan the trip and to take with me when driving. The individual maps are well detailed (I am often disappointed with the size, number and quality of maps in travel guides) and there are town plans too. However the maps are not as good as an AA or Michelin road atlas of GB or France and the major omission is a decent map showing all of S Africa. There is information about the attractions along each of the 'set routes but it is very superficial with a few pictures to break up the text and even lists of accommodation.
