Had to use correct pilot hole drill bit to install screws. Fast delivery. My ash tray did not have the springs when I bought the truck new 22 years ago. Always had it open because it could not spring open.

Well I worked very well once I got the hang of it. 1st I needed to take a round file like for a chain saw and file the tip threaded end to clear the shaft. Very little. Still was snug to put on but lubed it and ran a ratchet, 16mm, to turn it on. I could see the seal about 3/8 inch into the hole. I kinda could see the tool engage the seal. Some resistance to turning and then it got tight. I stopped there not wanting to strip out the seal metal. Put on the bolt and pulled it off seal ,photo.
