Poor Jerry Lundegaard. He's deep in debt. His wealthy father-in-law has no respect for him. He cheats customers at the car dealership where he works. The very-pregnant Marge--played marvelously by Frances McDormand in an Oscar-winning and career-defining performance--just goes about her everyday business, eating (in nearly every scene), talking to the people in the community, and examining bloody corpses as if no day is different from the next. A multiple murder in the small town of Brainerd, Minnesota--home of Paul Bunyan, as the sign claims--seems to have little effect on her. Yet she has an innate cop sense--she is very, very good at her job and determined to solve the case in her offhanded manner.FARGO is yet another offbeat, highly entertaining film from the Coen brothers (BARTON FINK, BLOOD SIMPLE). The film is nearly colorless; instead, director of photography Roger Deakins washes the screen in the blinding white of the snow, occasionally breaking for the drab grays and browns of police uniforms and winter jackets. Carter Burwell's score further enhances the slow, steady pace of this oddly funny and compelling film. The Coens have once again populated their film with a slew of bizarre characters, with outstanding performances delivered by all, particularly the edgy William H. Macy, the quietly luminous McDormand, the nearly psychotic Steve Buscemi, and the oh-so-cold Peter Stormare.

    great movie I recommend it to everyone

    Another perfect film from the Coen brothers. Although I am a huge fan of Raising Arizona, I have to say that this is truly their masterpiece. Each role is carefully crafted by the actors involved--Frances McDormand, William H Macy, Steve Buscemi, and the list goes on. Especially funny are the Northern-US speech patterns, which are believable and outrageous at the same time. Ya? Jerry Lundergaard is a loser, and his father-in-law never lets him forget it. When he envisions a scheme to help take his family out of debt and into the big time, he searches for a source of funding. After being denied money from his father-in-law, he decides he'll get money out of him anyway. He has his wife kidnapped, thinking that his father-in-law will pay the ransom and he'll be none the wiser. Well, as you ...

    Don't want to tell the plot of the movie. You need to see the movie to appreciate the characters and the story. The money you'll spend will be worth every cent!!

    One of My Favorite Movies at my Frontdoor. WOW

    I think I have seen this movie six or seven times and continue to be entertained. I ordered this from 7734graham at a very fair price, received it promptly, and have enjoyed it since. Because I am the only one in my family who appreciates this DVD, I now have to play it on my portable alone. I have been banished. Anyway Ebay afforded me the opportunity to have this for myself. I will check this site in the future for more of my favorite movies. Thanks.

    Fargo 2000 DVD

    This movie based on a true story is so well made with such a great cast not to mention how ENTERTAINING it is no wonder that it such a highly sought cult classic. I love the way they talk as well. This is a very unique movie and definately deserves a rating of 5. If you don't buy it watch it and then I believe the majority of you WILL put this on your list!!!!
